2022 Summer Reading Program – Michael Albert

July 15, 2022 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Rock County Community Library

The Rock County Community Library is excited to bring artist and author Michael Albert to the community. Mr. Albert was born and raised on Long Island, New York and currently lives and works in White Plans, New York. Albert is the author of an artist autobiography titled, “An Artist’s America” and is nationally known for making collage artworks from cereal boxes and other printed cardboard consumer brand packages. His work has been described as a cross between Pop Art, Cubism and Recycling.

The “Modern Pop Art Experience” includes an artist appearance, artist talk and presentation – where Mr. Albert introduces himself to the group, shows examples of his works and tells the group about the project they are about to do. A hands-on collage workshop ends the event where the participants get to create their own collages using the same materials he uses to create his serious works of art. The two hour program finishes with a free poster giveaway and signing.

He will be running a double session of his famous art program at the Rock County Community Library in Luverne, MN on Friday, July 15h, 2022. A 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. session will be for ages K-4th grade and a second session from 5:00-7:00 p.m. will be fore grades 5th-12th grade, adults and families. Both sessions are limited to 50 attendees.
